USS Mahan Homecoming and Chief Pinning

Welcome to Navy Live coverage of Friday’s homecoming of the guided-missile destroyer USS Mahan (DDG 72) to Naval Station Norfolk, Va.

The webcast, which is scheduled to begin at noon EDT, will also feature the promotion of ten Sailors to the rank of chief petty officer. The promotion is significant. Chief petty officers are the Navy’s technical experts in their fields. Their experience and leadership skills make them deckplate leaders for all Sailors. Promotion to chief is the pinnacle of an enlisted person’s Navy career.
