Aviation Electrician's Mate 3rd Class Chelsea Prufer conducts maintenance on the wing of an F/A-18F Super Hornet as the moon rises over the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). Carl Vinson and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 are deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
Sonar Technician (Submarine) 3rd Class Charles Miramonti, assigned to the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Louisville (SSN 724), and Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Christopher Barton, assigned to the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39), play with a boy during a community service project at the Bukit Harapan Orphanage. Sailors and civilian mariners from Emory S. Land and Louisville volunteered at the orphanage as part of a theater security cooperation and friendship mission to the region.
The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71) pulls alongside the Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Charles Drew (T-AKE 10) for a replenishment at sea. Cape St. George is deployed as part of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
