Your Navy TODAY (Mar. 19, 2012)

On any given day, in your Navy, our team of more than 600,000 professional Sailors and Civilians are working together around the globe to perform our mission: deter aggression and, if deterrence fails, win our Nation’s wars. It is not possible to share every aspect of this global team but, through this blog, we offer you a glimpse of what these men and women do.

The U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard stands in formation during the St. Patrick's Day parade in New York. This is the second year the ceremonial guard was invited to participate in the parade.

The Virginia-class attack submarine USS North Carolina (SSN 777) arrives at Fleet Activities Sasebo for a brief port visit to accommodate crew rest and replenishment. North Carolina is the first Virginia-class submarine to visit Sasebo.

Sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) observe a riverine patrol craft from Riverine Squadron (RIVRON) 2 and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Adak (WPB 1333) conduct a maritime infrastructure protection exercise. Milius is on a routine deployment supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.

Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1681 approaches the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52). Pearl Harbor and embarked Marines assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are deployed as part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
