This post is by Mrs. Bobbi West, the wife of Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (SS/SW) Rick West. Military Spouse Appreciation Day is May 7, 2010.
I would like to thank all of our Navy spouses for your steadfast support of your Sailors, our men and women who wear the cloth of our proud nation. It is because of spouses like you that our Sailors are able to accomplish our Navy’s missions. As a Navy spouse and former Sailor myself, I know the Navy lifestyle can be challenging at times, but it’s through your unwavering dedication to your Sailors that our great Navy is the best it has ever been.
Our Sailors and Navy families are our Navy’s number one asset, and family readiness is directly tied into mission readiness. I encourage you to continue to engage your Sailor, your Sailor’s command Ombudsman, Fleet and Family Support Centers, Family Readiness Groups, and each other for information on the numerous support services, programs and benefits available to you to help navigate the Navy lifestyle.
Communication is a must and there are many command-specific websites and Facebook pages along with the Fleet and Family Support Center Facebook page to keep you and your families up-to-date. You can also visit other Web sites such as Navy for Moms and Military OneSource.
The Navy recognizes your commitment to your Sailors and our great nation. Spouses, thank you again for all that you do!
