To achieve our Navy’s goals in an ever-changing environment, Sailors benefit from continuous learning, engagement, leadership and planning. The Career Development Symposium, Sept. 20-21, empowered Sailors with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully manage their career.
The 2017 CDS was held in tailored sessions, which was hosted by Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Robert Burke:
- Officers, chiefs and first class petty officers
- First-term E1-E4 Sailors
- Second and third class petty officers
This session was designed for officers, chiefs and first class petty officers to learn about the career management processes, opportunities and leadership tools to help develop enlisted Sailors. Keynote address was given by Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Bill Moran.
Session for First-term E-1 to E-4 Sailors
This session was designed for first term E1-E4 Sailors to learn about the tools for success in the Navy, including advancement, learning roadmaps, civilian credentialing, voluntary education and blended retirement. Keynote address was given by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Steven Giordano.
Session for Second and Third Class Petty Officers
This session was designed for second and third class petty officers to learn about leadership techniques, changes to enlisted career management and detailing, and rating modernization. Keynote address was given by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Steven Giordano.
