A Navy Military Family of the Year Receives Surprise

Military children make up a very special part of our nation’s population. These young, brave, unsung heroes stand in steadfast support of parents who risk their lives to protect American freedom. In their honor, April is designated as Month of the Military Child to celebrate the unique contributions, commitments and sacrifices military children make on behalf of our country. The national non-profit organization, Our Military Kids, hosted its third annual, “Celebration of Our Military Kids’ Star Power,” event in Washington D.C., to honor some of these truly special children. Five military children were recognized and a Navy family, the Karnbach Family, was selected as the organization’s Military Family of the Year. Unfortunately, for Petty Officer Christopher Karnbach, an intelligence specialist with the Navy Reserve, could not join his family at the event because of his current deployment to Cuba – or, could he? Watch this video as the Karnbach clan is about to get the surprise of a lifetime …

“This has been a great opportunity for my children … to give them something else to think about rather than their parent that’s deployed downrange; whether it’s Afghanistan or Guantanamo Bay or the various places they’ve been sent to.” IS1 Christopher Karnbach
